The prequel to the original Dune tells the story of how Rosak’s sister became a Bene Gesserit
Chronology
Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopia, or making the world a better place, these women are the foundation of science fiction. The Great Schools of Dune trilogy is a collection of short stories written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.
So here it is
The incident with Valya Harkonnen, using voiceover, is from one called “Mentats of Dune.” All three books tie together the development of the sisters, the Mentats, the Navigators, and the Brush Doctors. I wanted to be brief and to the point, but I felt compelled to expand on my thoughts. There was a time when the writers knew how to weave exposition into the narrative without it feeling forced and contrived.
The other characters didn’t interest me
I understand that this is the first episode, but do they have to lay everything out as if they weren’t common knowledge (the Princess) to deliver a good performance? I feel like the show is in good hands. They move the story along, but are forgettable.
I guess we’ll see how it develops
I had a hard time focusing on the first episode. It felt like it was part of a whole that couldn’t be separated. I’ll wait for the full season before I start shooting more episodes.
The art department should win awards for how beautiful it looks
The CGI is high quality, the costumes are perfect, and the tone of Villeneuve’s vision is maintained and expanded.
